Q & A Sunflower Seeds
I've just grown sunflowers for the first time this year. How and when should I harvest the seeds?
Wait until the seeds are fully grown and firm. Timing is everything, as you are probably going to be competing with the birds for the seeds. Cut the stalk about a fool below the head and hang in a well-ventilated, dry spot. You may want to protect the drying seed heads with cheesecloth to keep birds and squirrels away while the seeds mature.
